Summary: On 16th of May 2015 at 09:55 h, a BEECHCRAFT BARON 58 airplane with registration mark SX-API, while executing flight from Athens International Airport “El. Venizelos” (LGAV) to the general aviation aerodrome at Megara (LGMG) and reaching Megara Aerodrome Traffic Zone (ATZ) at a height of 600 ft and 2 nm south of it, was found to be in converging course with another aircraft PIPER PA28-161 with registration mark SX-ARA which had been taken off from Megara aerodrome (LGMG) in order to perform a training flight. The latest aircraft was flying at height of 500 ft.

Summary: On Sunday 10th of July 2016 a hang glider pilot executed a flight, at the second day of the 30th Open National Hang Gliding Championship which was held from 09th till 17th of July 2016 in Kastania area of the Municipality of Servion-Velventou, Kozanis. This competition was called “SERVIA OPEN 2016”. After a short flight, his hand glider landed with high speed in an area next to the predetermined landing field. The pilot was seriously injured.

Summary: On 4 May 2016 at around 13:20 h, during take-off from a private helicopter landing field in Fanari, Mykonos, while hovering at a low altitude and turning into the prevailing wind, the tail skid of the private helicopter registered as G-DKEM, a Bell 407 operated by its owner and carrying four passengers, came into contact with an adjacent wall surrounding the field. After contact of tail section, the helicopter started to vibrate. The pilot safely landed the helicopter on the landing field.
The Air Accident Investigation and Aviation Safety Board was informed of the accident in an email from the Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO) and an investigation team was appointed.
As the country of registration, the United Kingdom’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) was informed and appointed a non-travelling Accredited Representative.

Summary: On Sunday June14, 2015, the aircraft of Thessaloniki Aeroclub with registration SX-ASD was conducting take-off and landing exercises at Thessaloniki International Airport “MAKEDONIA” (LGTS). During the flare phase of the second landing and just before the main wheels of the aircraft touched the ground, the aircraft leaned to the right and forward without any prior sign or symptom. As result the right hand wing tip and the blades of the propeller of the aircraft hit the ground. At the same time the aircraft turned to the left about 45o to its vertical axis and when the main wheels touched the ground the aircraft veered to the left side of the designated runway and stopped about 150 m out and to the left side of the runway. The Pilot managed to evacuate the aircraft without any injury or any other problem.
This report was written on the basis of a draft incident report submitted to AAIASB by the Thessaloniki Aeroclub.

Summary: On Tuesday, March 29, 2016, during the Refueling process of a private C172L airplane performed by a pilot, at LGMG airport General Aviation Apron (MEGARA-Attica-Greece), a fire started from the filling point of the aircraft and then spread into his cabin. The fire was extinguished by the Airport firefighting vehicle of the Civil Aviation Authority. None of the people near the aircraft was injured. The plane suffered substancial damage.

Summary: On September 20, 2014, at 18:10 local time, the glider (Mosquito) with registration SX-123 of “Athens Gliding Club” was flying to the area of Tatoi airport (LGTT). While it was in the process to perform the downwind leg of the runway 21, it performed a descent in the area between the runway and the taxiway, with result the collision of left wing of the glider to a web at the top of which there were meteorological instruments of the airport. Then the glider crushed to the ground, with serious injury of pilot.

Summary: On Thursday July 23, 2015, an helicopter which belonged to Superior Air S.A with registration SX-HRW while was conducting a flight from Mykonos International Airport (LGMK) to Athens International Airport ‘El. Venizelos’ (LGAV) executed a controlled descend and ditched after an indication of low main rotor r.p.m.. This was happened in a sea area at about 5nm east of the PERATI point of East Attica. During the ditching the pilot successfully energized the emergency pop out floats and the aircraft safely touched the sea. The pilot and the passenger of the aircraft were picked up by a search and rescue helicopter. During this rescue process the ditched helicopter was overturned, the two persons managed to evacuate the helicopter without any injury and then they were picked up. The ditched helicopter remained in the sea inverted until the next day when it was retracted, since originally, it has been towed to the port of Porto Rafti.
